Festival Visit
The family and I made a trip to Atchison Kansas to check out the famous (or infamous, depending on your involvement) Amelia Earhart festival fireworks show. It was HOT, but the fireworks were pretty cool. It was kind of nice to actually sit and watch rather than be stuck at an intersection directing traffic, as in the past years. Got to have some Big Daddy's barbecue from St. Joe MO (18th and Messanie) which is always good. Afterward we hung out a while and visited with old friends and co-workers. We didn't leave until after midnight after traffic pretty much cleared in Atchison. To our surprise as we got just outside of town, traffic was backed up about 3-miles east of the US 59 / MO HWY 45 JCT. It took 25 minutes to got the distance then the additional normal amount of time to get the rest of the way home (ICK)
